TTFA Launches 2026 G-League

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association is pleased to announce the launch of the fourth edition of the G-League, the country’s premier developmental football competition for girls aged 8 to 15 years.

Now in its fourth year, the G-League continues to serve as a cornerstone of the TTFA’s Women’s Football Development Strategy, providing young girls with the opportunity to learn, enjoy, and compete in football within a structured club environment. The competition also serves as an important platform for the development of female coaches while creating a clear pathway for talented players to progress into elite football programmes.

For the 2026 season, the competition will expand to three age categories:

• U11 (5v5)
• U13 (7v7)
• U15 (9v9)

The age-specific formats have been designed to prioritize player development by allowing girls to learn the technical and tactical aspects of the game in an environment that encourages creativity, confidence, and decision-making. The U11 category will conclude with a fun-filled festival designed to foster enjoyment, friendship, and a lifelong love of football.

The G-League is divided geographically into three zones: North/East, Central/South, and Tobago. Following the zonal phase, the top two teams from each zone, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the Big 8 Knockout Competition to determine the national champions.

The competition continues to grow in stature and participation each year, thanks in part to funding received through the FIFA Women’s Development Programme. Beyond competition, the league plays a critical role in identifying emerging talent for the TTFA Girls High-Performance Programme and Youth National Teams.

Several former G-League players have gone on to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the international level, including Nikita Gosine, Hackeemar Goodridge, Jayda Herbert, and Rori Gittens, among others. Nikita Gosine currently holds the record for the most goals scored in a single G-League season and remains one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most exciting young football talents.

The league also places significant emphasis on coach development. One of the competition requirements is that clubs must have a female coach involved in the younger age categories, helping to create more opportunities for women to develop their coaching careers within football.

In the 2025 season, Legion captured the U12 title after defeating Combined Ballerz in the final, while Trendsetter emerged as G15 Champions after overcoming Legion. Individual honours were awarded to Kyra Yee Loy (Legion) and Shemaiah Toussaint (Pro Series) for their outstanding performances throughout the season.

N’Neeka Harewood (Legion) was recognized as the Most Outstanding Coach of the 2025 season for her commitment to player development and contribution to the growth of girls’ football.

The 2026 G-League season is scheduled to kick off on June 14, 2026.
