TTFA Congratulates Police and QPCC

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) extends warm congratulations to Police FC on securing the 2025/26 Trinidad and Tobago Premier Football League (TTPFL) Tier II title following an impressive 3-0 victory over Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) on Friday evening at the Ken Cooke Ground, Police Training Barracks in St James.

Needing only a draw to guarantee the championship, Police FC produced a commanding performance in front of a lively home crowd to clinch the title and the accompanying $100,000 first prize.

Leading the way was striker Kareem “Scooby” Freitas, who delivered a memorable farewell performance for the club with two goals and an assist. Freitas opened the scoring in the sixth minute with an audacious long-range effort that caught the QPCC goalkeeper off his line and gave Police the perfect start.

The Lawmen maintained control throughout much of the contest and eventually doubled their advantage in the 60th minute when Akeil Thomas finished from close range after excellent work by Freitas down the left flank.
Freitas then put the result beyond doubt seven minutes from time, heading home from close range to complete his brace and seal a convincing victory for Garfield Ambrose’s team.

The win ensured Police FC finished atop the Tier II standings with 44 points from 18 matches, six points clear of second-placed QPCC.

While Police FC celebrated the championship, QPCC also had reason to be pleased as their runner-up finish secures promotion to the TTPFL Tier I competition for next season.

Speaking after the match, Police FC Head Coach Garfield Ambrose praised the commitment shown by his players throughout the campaign.

“Our objective from the beginning of the season was to win the league. The players bought into the philosophy, showed discipline throughout the campaign and worked extremely hard to achieve this success. The blend of experienced players and talented young footballers was a major factor in our title-winning season,” Ambrose said.

Freitas, who was named Man of the Match, expressed satisfaction at ending his Police FC career on a high note.

“I knew this would be my final match for Police FC and I wanted to do something special for the team. To score two goals, get an assist and help the club win the title is a perfect way to finish,” he said.
