TTFA signs MOU with Australia Institute

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) has formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Wellbeing Science Institute of Australia (WSIA), reinforcing the Association’s commitment to structured education, safeguarding, and Player Care.

The agreement establishes a collaborative framework for the alignment and delivery of a tiered Safeguarding Certification pathway within Trinidad and Tobago football.

Under the terms of the MOU, TTFA will develop and deliver Levels 1, 2, and 3 of its safeguarding education structure, while WSIA will oversee the delivery of Level 4, ensuring advanced academic depth and international alignment.

Building a Structured Certification Framework

The partnership introduces a progressive, clearly defined certification pathway designed to elevate professional standards, safeguarding competence, and leadership development across the TTFA ecosystem.

Through this collaboration:

TTFA will administer foundational and intermediate safeguarding programmes tailored to the local and regional football environment.

WSIA will deliver advanced-level certification aligned with internationally recognized academic benchmarks.

Both institutions will collaborate on curriculum alignment, quality assurance, and continuous programme evaluation.

TTFA leadership described the agreement as a strategic step toward institutional strengthening.

This MOU represents a deliberate investment in education and governance. By aligning our safeguarding pathway with an international academic partner, we are ensuring our stakeholders receive training that meets global standards while remaining contextually relevant to Trinidad and Tobago.

Advancing Safeguarding and Professional Excellence

The collaboration enhances TTFA’s safeguarding framework by establishing measurable learning outcomes across multiple certification levels. Participants will benefit from a seamless progression pathway—from locally delivered instruction to internationally supported advanced certification.

A representative of WSIA welcomed the partnership, noting that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to wellbeing, ethical leadership, and accountability within sport.

Long-Term Institutional Impact

The signing of this MOU aligns with TTFA’s broader strategic vision to institutionalize education through its Academy of Leadership and Management and to strengthen human resource capacity at all levels of football administration.

By combining local expertise with international academic support, the partnership aims to create sustainable, high-quality development pathways for administrators, coaches, and football stakeholders nationwide.

The agreement takes effect immediately and marks the beginning of a collaborative relationship focused on elevating standards, enhancing competence, and reinforcing a culture of safeguarding and professional excellence within Trinidad and Tobago football.
