T&T and Jamaica U-15s Draw Again

There was no separating the Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica U-15 teams for yet another game as both teams battled out a 1-1 draw in their second training match in Marabella on Tuesday.

After taking the early lead this time, T&T could not hold on as Jamaica found the equalizer six minutes from the end of the 80-minute affair. The matches at the upcoming CONCACAF U-15 Championship in Santo Domingo will run for 80 minutes.

Midfielder Riquelme Phillips put T&T ahead from inside the area when he slotted home following a mix up between Jamaican goalkeeper Davill Jarrett and his defenders in the 11th minute.

T&T head coach Shawn Cooper made five changes to his starting team and subsequently 5 changes during the match while his counterpart Andrew Peart made three changes to his start team and nine during the match.

Coming into the match was midfielder Seth Hadeed who wore the captain’s armband. He missed a second half penalty and was later substituted. Following the match, X-rays determined that the Fatima College midfielder suffered a broken collar bone and will miss the upcoming tournament.

Jamaica got their equalizer six minutes from time when midfielder Duwayne Burgher released captain Kai Myles down the right and he crossed for substitute Deshawn Byfield to turn home.

T&T and Jamaica draw 1-1 in opener

Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica’s Under 15 Boys team played to a 1-1 draw in the first of two training matches at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium on Sunday.

Both teams used the 80-minute match as preparation for the Concacaf Boys Under-15 Championships next month in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Owen Jumpp opened the scoring in the 38th minute before T&T found the equaliser in the 60th minute through Akeil Vesprey.

T&T Head Coach Shawn Cooper, said after the game : “A very interesting game. I think our boys showed some heart coming down in the dregs of the game. The last 15, 20 minutes they really took the game to the Jamaicans.”

Cooper was satisfied with his team’s defence.

“I think our defensive organisation was pretty much spot on…what we wanted to do is keep shape.”

Looking at the team’s strength, Cooper said, “We are very solid at the back and we have some pace on the wing and upfront. I think we still need to be a little more solid in the middle of the field. In saying so we had two starters out today – the captain Seth Hadeed and Percy Foncette – both of them are normally starters on the team.”
