TTFA G14 LEAGUE KICKS OFF THIS WEEKEND

G14 LEAGUE KICKS OFF THIS WEEKEND

The G14 League (Girls U14), hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association will commence this Saturday April 15th 2023 at the UWI SPEC Field, St Augustine from 10:00 am.

All teams in Trinidad will play at UWI, while the Tobago Group will begin on Sunday 16th April 2023.

This league is part of the TTFA’s Women’s football development drive and is supported through the FIFA Women’s Football Development Programmes which provides assistance to Member Associations for the growth of women’s football in their respective countries, through selected programmes.

The League Development Programme is the focus area for the TTFA as it strives to provide more competitions and playing opportunities for young girls outside of the school competitions while also trying to develop a club culture in local women’s football.

One of the criterias for participation in the League is that the head coach must be female as the TTFA focuses on providing and increasing opportunities for women to be at the helm, also increasing support and emphasising on instilling more confidence among women coaches in the game.

In 2022, the TTFA conducted two C Licence Women Only Courses that were supported by FIFA (February) and CONCACAF (December). Fifty-two (52) coaches attended these courses which is an indication that there is an interest and the FA is now pleased to provide an additional platform for coaches to ply their trade.
