Beach Soccer Teams vie for World Beach Games spots

The Trinidad and Tobago Men & Women Beach Soccer Teams arrived in El Salvador today to contest the ANOC World Beach Games Qualifiers.

The tournament will take place at the Costa del Sol National Stadium, from Thursday, April 6 to Saturday, April 8.

The event will feature the participation of 11 national teams (seven in the men’s category and four in the women’s), who will compete for the four spots, two in each category, to qualify for the next ANOC World Beach Games 2023 to be held in Bali, Indonesia from August 5th to 12th.

The men’s category will consist of a knockout tournament starting in the quarterfinals with the seven participating teams, in which the winners of the two semifinals will obtain their ticket to the ANOC World Beach Games.

Trinidad and Tobago Women’s team were crowned champions of the Bahamas Beach Soccer Cup in Nassau last year.

The seven men’s teams participating are: El Salvador, United States, Bahamas, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Belize.

In the women’s category, the four teams will play in a league format, with three matchdays, in which the two best teams will qualify for the ANOC World Beach Games.

T&T men will meet Bahamas in a knockout fixture on Thursday while the Women will begin Group action on Thursday vs El Salvador, followed by matches against United States and Bahamas on Friday.

The both teams will also use this as preparation for the Concacaf Beach Soccer World Cup qualifiers in Bahamas in May. The Women are coming off their successful participation at the 2022 Bahamas Beach Soccer Cup at which they won the title while the Men pulled off a win over Costa Rica in their closing encounter. The TTFA also wishes to acknowledge the T&T Beach Soccer Association for its efforts in securing the necessary resources for the teams’ build up and participation at the current Games in El Salvador.
