T&T Men secure 2-0 win over St Vincent/Grenadines
Trinidad and Tobago’s Senior men’s team got two firs half goals Neveal Hackshaw and Levi Garcia to defeat St Vincent and the Grenadines 2-0 in League B, Group C of the Concacaf Nations League at the Arnos Vale Recreation Ground in Kingstown on Friday.
Hackshaw and Garcia combined brilliantly to open the scoring for T&T. Hackshaw first played the ball to Garcia and the latter found Hackshaw again who chested the ball down in the 18-yard box and calmly lobbed St Vincent and the Grenadines goalkeeper Lemus Christopher.
In the 25th minute, Garcia doubled the lead for T&T. Right side workhpirse Shannon Gomez crossed the ball and Garcia, with two defenders surrounding him, headed the ball in the far corner.
T&T continued to create chances but St Vincent also had their moments during the match.
John-Paul Rochford saw his free kick clip the upright just before the interval and before the deadlock was broken Garcia fired over bar from close range.
The second half was played in most parts under rain as both teams tried to maintain their composure. The hosts pressed for their first goal but could not break the resolute T&T defence. Forward Reon Moore saw his effort hit the woodwork for T&T and substitute Marcus Joseph also had a couple attempts to increase T&T’s advantage.
T&T moved to six points with the win and will look to continue their run against the same opposition on Monday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium from 7pm.
