TTFA Hails Caleb Wales on Appointment to FIFA World Cup 2026™ Match Officials List
The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) proudly congratulates assistant referee Caleb Wales on his appointment to officiate at the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026™, marking another historic milestone for Trinidad and Tobago football.
Wales has been selected as one of 88 assistant referees from across the globe to serve at what will be the largest FIFA World Cup in history, featuring 48 teams and 104 matches across three host countries.
His inclusion comes following a rigorous three-year evaluation process conducted by FIFA, which assessed officials based on performance, consistency, and excellence at both international and domestic levels.
This achievement is even more significant as Wales was also appointed as an assistant referee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, further cementing his status among the elite match officials in world football.

TTFA President Kieron Edwards praised Wales for his outstanding accomplishment, noting the pride it brings to the nation:
“On behalf of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Caleb Wales on this remarkable achievement. To be selected once again for the FIFA World Cup is a testament to his professionalism, dedication, and consistent excellence at the highest level of the game. Caleb continues to make Trinidad and Tobago proud, and his success serves as inspiration to our referees and the wider football fraternity.”
The FIFA World Cup 2026™ will feature a record number of match officials, with 52 referees, 88 assistant referees, and 30 video match officials drawn from all six confederations and 50 Member Associations.
According to FIFA, the appointments were made under the “quality first” principle, ensuring only the most consistent and high-performing officials were selected.

FIFA’s Chief Refereeing Officer, Pierluigi Collina, emphasized that the chosen officials represent the very best in the world, having undergone extensive monitoring, training, and evaluation over several years to prepare for the demands of the tournament.
Wales will be part of the FIFA “Team One” group, which will assemble in Miami ahead of the competition for final preparations, including seminars, fitness assessments, and match simulations.
His appointment continues a proud tradition of Trinidad and Tobago officials making their mark on the global stage and reinforces the country’s growing reputation for excellence in football officiating.
The TTFA once again extends its congratulations to Caleb Wales and wishes him every success at the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
