T&T WOMEN WIN BUT MEN LOSE IN BAHAMAS BEACH SOCCER CUP

Trinidad & Tobago’s Beach Soccer Women kicked off their campaign at the Bahamas Beach Soccer Cup in fine style with a dominant 8-0 win over Turks & Caicos in Nassau on Friday night.

Tsai Ann Fernandez and Alexcia Ali were the influential players for T&T scoring two goals apiece.

Fernandez, Nia Honore and Aliyah Prince were all target in the first period to give T&T a 3-0 lead at the end of the opening period.

Ali and Adanya Phillip found the back of the net in the second period for 5-0 advantage.

Ali and Fernandez both scored their second goals of the match in the third period, before Summer Arjoon rounded off the scoring to make it 8-0.

The T&T men in their turn on the sand, got a strong start but faded in the second and third periods, losing 7-4 to Bahamas.

A goal from goalkeeper Zane Coker and a brace from Jordan Riley helped T&T lead Bahamas 3-2 at the end of the first period.

Bahamas equalised in the second period as the contest was all square 3-3.

In the third period, Bahamas outscored T&T 4-1 as the home team prevailed with a 7-4 victory. Kevon Williams scored for T&T in the last period.

Bahamad’ Lesly St. Fleur, recently named among the world’s top 100 players, netted a hat-trick while Costa Rica’s Greivin did the same against Colombia in a narrow 4-3 victory in the other encounter.

T&T’s Men lost their second encounter on Saturday, going down 6-0 to Colombia. They face Costa Rica on Sunday while the Ladies will play hosts Bahamas in their closing match.
