T&T off the mark with 1-0 win over Bahamas
Trinidad and Tobago’s Senior Men secured their first victory in the Concacaf Nations League with a 1-0 victory over Bahamas before an estimated 3700 fans at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Monday night.
A 4th-minute header by US-based midfielder Neveal Hackshaw secured the three points for the hosts who now travel to face St Vincent/Grenadines tomorrow for Friday’s match in Kingstown.
Hackshaw met Noah Powder’s right side corner and placed his header past the outstretched right hand of goalkeeper Julio Jemison. A few minutes later Levi Garcia played a return pass to Duane Muckette whose header crashed off the crossbar.
Defender Kareem Moses, connected with his head to a Powder corner, but his effort was saved by Jemison.
And, in the dying stages of the first half, left-back Keston Julien’s cross was partially cleared, and Kevon Goddard’s follow-up effort was saved for a corner.
Substitute Molik Khan took a quick freekick and fed Reon Moore on the left. Moore’s over-hit cross was tracked down by John-Paul Rochford who teed up Nicholas Dillon, but the striker’s effort was blocked by the Bahamas goalie.
Two minutes later, Rochford missed the target by a few inches, with a long-range freekick.
The T&T Team will travel to Kingstown on Wednesday morning. Coming back into the squad is Inter Miami FC midfielder Joevin Jones, Marcus Joseph with Andre Etienne also getting a call. Missing the encounter will be Radanfah Abu Bakr, Nicholas Dillon and Michael Kedman.
