Tobago Schools get Concacaf Bigger Game equipment

Present for the distribution were Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) Acting Technical Director Devin Elcock, Concacaf representative Benny Astorga, and Tobago Football Association President Everton Alfred.

The participating schools were presented with footballs, cones, jerseys, knapsacks and water bottles supplied through Concacaf as part of the programme’s grassroots development drive across the region.

Following today’s presentation, the schools are now begin the structured 10-week Bigger Game Academy programme, during which participating coaches and educators will conduct football and life-skills sessions with students. Each session will be logged and monitored through the official Bigger Game Academy digital system.

The initiative forms part of Concacaf’s wider “Bigger Game” strategy in collaboration with the TTFA, which uses football as a tool for education, inclusion, teamwork and personal development among young boys and girls throughout the Caribbean and wider Concacaf region.

Astorga, who also visited T&T for the official launch of the campaign September, commended the continued collaboration between Concacaf, the TTFA and local stakeholders in helping to grow grassroots football and provide opportunities for children through the game.

The Bigger Game Academy programme focuses heavily on primary school engagement and coach education, while promoting safeguarding, participation and social development through football activities.

Schools in Trinidad are scheduled to receive their equipment on Friday during a similar presentation ceremony at the TTFA Technical Centre in Couva.
