NEPTUNE NETS HATTRICK IN AC WIN
Jameel Neptune scored a hat-trick, and John-Paul Rochford, the other as AC Port-of-Spain whipped Morvant Caledonia AIA 4-1 to extend their lead at the top of the T&T Premier Football League standings at the St James Police Barracks, Football Field, Long Circular Road, St James on Sunday.
With the win, the Walt Noreiga-coached AC PoS moved to 18 points from seven matches with four points clear of Tiger Tanks Club Sando. Terminix La Horquetta Rangers and Central FC are a further point behind.
In the day’s other match, a lone penalty from captain Nical Stephen earned San Juan Jabloteh its first win of the season 1-0 over Point Fortin Civic at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar on Sunday.
Stephen, who missed his team’s 2-1 loss to W Connection in mid-week returned to his team’s starting line-up and converted from the spot in the 86th minute to climb off the foot of the 12-club table with four points, the same as cellar-placed T&T Prisons Service FC.
On Saturday afternoon, T&T youth international Nathaniel James assisted on two goals as Tiger Tanks Club Sando outplayed W Connection FC 3-1 to move into the second spot, one point ahead of Terminix La Horquetta Rangers and Central FC.
In Saturday’s second match at the Arima Municipal Stadium, Arima, Rangers outgunned Central FC 5-3 with a goal each from Ataulla Guerra (4th), Isaiah Raymond (29th), Isaiah Lee (45th), Leslie Joel Russell (49th), and Daniel David with an 85th-minute penalty.
For Central Fc, who fell to its second straight defeat after going unbeaten in their first five matches, Keron Cummings (26th), Anslem Jackson (56th), and Kesean St Rose (62nd) were the players on target.
In the opening match at Arima, Defence Force slammed Prisons Service 7-0 with Reon Moore (18th, 37th) and Hashim Arcia (65th, 74th) scoring two goals each while Jelani Felix (21st), Brent Sam (44th), and Lashawn Roberts (83rd) added one each as they climbed to the fourth spot with 12 points.
