Boyce is new Men’s U-20 Head Coach

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Randolph Boyce as the new head coach of the Men’s Under-20 National team.

Boyce, a well acquitted local coach with extensive experience in youth development, brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh vision to the team. He has coached St Benedict’s College in the Secondary Schools Football League with success and has also led Central FC in the T&T Premier League.

TTFA President Kieron Edwards, also chairman of the TTFA Technical Committee, expressed his enthusiasm for Boyce’s appointment, stating, “We are excited to welcome Randolph Boyce to our coaching setup. His dedication to youth development and his strategic approach to the game align perfectly with our goals for the Under-20 team. We are confident that under his leadership, our young players will not only be prepared for the next qualifying campaign but will also gain invaluable experience through our program in the coming months.

The next qualifiers are not expected to start until 2026 with the current qualification still ongoing in Mexico for the next FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Chile in September, 2025. T&T were eliminated from the current campaign when it lost to Canada in the prelims in February of this year.

”Boyce’s appointment is part of TTFA’s broader strategy to strengthen the foundation of Trinidad and Tobago’s football by investing in the youth. The focus will be on creating a cohesive and competitive team ready to tackle the challenges of the next qualifying campaign. However, the vision extends beyond immediate goals. The TTFA aims to prepare players well in advance, providing them with opportunities to engage in training camps and we are also looking to set up international practice matches in different windows so that the team can gain crucial exposure,” Edwards said.

As part of this strategy, a pool of Under 20 players will exist in an attempt to ensure that players are not only physically and technically prepared but also mentally resilient for the qualifying campaign. Over the period, Boyce will also have a fair amount of time to see what available talent outside of the country is available to the team.

Boyce, upon his appointment, shared his excitement, saying, “It is an honour to lead the Men’s Under-20 team. My goal is to build a team that not only excels in the next qualifying campaign but also sets a new standard for youth football in Trinidad and Tobago. We will focus on developing a strong team ethic, tactical awareness, and individual skill, ensuring that our players are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.”

The TTFA is committed to providing all necessary resources and support to ensure the success of the Under-20 team. This includes investing in high-quality preparation, engaging in matches along the way and fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism. The journey ahead is promising, and the TTFA is confident that with Randolph Boyce at the helm, the Men’s Under-20 team can be led on the right path to achieving new heights at the under 20 level.
