Another workshop will take place for coaches in Tobago at a date to be finalised.

• Distribution
• Protecting the ball
• Goalkeeping exercises (field)

The details of the topics were based on the workshop level and focused around age group-specific information that support the long term development model.

Age-group focus of each workshop
• Basic (6-12years)
• Intermediate (13-16 years)
• Advanced (17+years)

Head of TTFA Coach Education Rajesh Latchoo relayed his observations, stating, “The Classroom participation and discussions were very good. The intermediate sessions delivered by Coach Carter went deeper into the physical conditioning of the goalkeepers.

“Generally Coach Carter interacted very well with the participants and the course content was very good for a basic level course.

“Among the key takeaways from the course were that the way coaches interact and speak with players is a key component. Young players are more open to learning when we are able to give them positive feedback as opposed to telling them what they did wrong or pointing out errors.

“The coaches role is to help the player become better. It is important we create real scenarios and intensity for the goalkeepers in training,” Latchoo said.
