TTFA Clarifies Ticket distribution

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association has taken note of concerns raised by 1976 Olympic gold medallist Hasely Crawford regarding the collection of his complimentary tickets for matches staged at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

The Association regrets any inconvenience or embarrassment Mr Crawford may have experienced and certainly recognises his outstanding contribution to Trinidad and Tobago sport and the significance of the stadium bearing his name.

At the same time, the TTFA wishes to categorically clarify that its established procedure for matches at the Hasely Crawford Stadium is to provide the allocated complimentary tickets to the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SPORTT), which manages the facility, for onward distribution and collection at the stadium.

This has been the procedure for previous international matches staged at the venue, and the TTFA has consistently provided the relevant ticket allocation to SPORTT ahead of these fixtures.

As such, the TTFA does not deliberately withhold tickets from Mr Crawford, nor is there any intention on the part of the Association to disrespect or disregard one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most celebrated sporting icons.

The TTFA also acknowledges that SPORTT has its own established process and designated seating arrangements for Mr Crawford. However, in an effort to avoid any further inconvenience or misunderstanding, the TTFA will, going forward, make arrangements to personally deliver all tickets allocated to Mr Crawford directly to him ahead of matches at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

The TTFA also wishes to confirm that, following its own inquiry into the matter, it was established that the tickets in question were subsequently delivered to Mr Crawford on Saturday, the eve of the match.

The TTFA remains committed to ensuring that arrangements surrounding his ticket allocation are handled as smoothly and efficiently as possible for future matches.
