King Names 20-Man Squad for Louisville City FC Friendly
Trinidad and Tobago Senior Men’s Head Coach Derek King has named a 20-man squad for the friendly against American USL Championship side Louisville City FC on Saturday July 25 at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky.
The match forms part of the national team’s ongoing preparations for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League, with Trinidad and Tobago scheduled to play four matches when the competition resumes in late September.
King has been working with a group of home-badef players during training sessions over the past three weeks, using the camp to assess emerging talent and continue building the squad ahead of the Nations League campaign.
Several overseas-based players were unavailable for selection as the fixture falls outside the FIFA international match window, while many have already returned to their clubs to begin preparations for the upcoming domestic seasons.
The squad features a youthful blend of domestic and overseas-based players, with Defence Force duo Justin Garcia appointed captain and Reon Moore serving as vice-captain. Adriel George who recently signed with Jamaican club Racing, has also been called up.
Earning a first time call up is 20-year-old midfielder Caleb Borneo who holds dual citizenship for T&T and USA and has been in the US U-19 level pool.He is past member of the Columbus Crew academy.
Speaking ahead of the team’s departure, King said the fixture provides another valuable opportunity in the programme’s long-term development.
“As we continue building towards the Concacaf Nations League in September, this tour presents an excellent opportunity to expose some of our younger players to a high quality opponent in Louisville City FC, one of the USL Championship’s most successful clubs,” King told TTFA Media.
“We have selected a young squad with several players who are pushing strongly for places in the Nations League team, including 15-year-old Adisa Richardson and a number of talented teenagers. We will also be joined by five additional players in the United States who will have the chance to compete for selection.
“This is an important step in the development of our programme, allowing our young players to gain valuable international experience in a competitive environment. Justin Garcia will captain the team, with Reon Moore serving as vice-captain, providing the leadership and experience needed to guide this exciting group.
“We are looking forward to the challenge and expect this match to be another important milestone in the growth of Trinidad and Tobago football,” King added.
Louisville City FC, one of the leading clubs in the USL Championship, captured the 2025 USL Players’ Shield after finishing with the league’s best regular season record and will provide a stern test for the Trinidad and Tobago squad ahead of the Nations League.
The match kicks off at 8pm local time on Saturday July 25 at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky.
